Waiting for the next Harry Potter book!
Posted by Carlo - 31/01/06 at 11:01:55 amSome days ago I’ve finished reading the sixth book on the young wizard: Harry Potter and the half-blood Prince!
Also the latest book from J.K. Rowling was very Good, really! The end has upset me a little bit, but it happened also for the Order of the Phoenix, and I was somehow prepared for such an ending, but now I will have to wait for the seventh book, that is told is being written in these days.

From some sources on the net (Muggle Net seems a good source) I’ve found that the book should come out in mid 2007, it means more than one year of waiting!!!!
And what about the rumors about it? I can tell you that the best sources for them is JKRowling.com, where you can find some interesting things…

Returning to Work!
Posted by Carlo - 30/01/06 at 10:01:44 amHere I am again, after some days of vacation and relax.
I have to say that I have relaxed myself a lot, but the problems were here, waiting for me, and today I’m submerged with papers, problems, tricky bugs and much much more.
AHRGH!
Of course the time spent far from home, far from the problematics of the whole things I’m involved in has been very precious and maybe had helped me in coming out of a little stress ill I’m having, but today I feel again as the number of an assembly line…

What is stressing me so much? What is this world doing to me?

Break!!!!!
Posted by Carlo - 27/01/06 at 11:01:12 amIn these days I am at home, because I have somaticized all the stress of the latest months…
Today I will leave for a two days off in a location 200km away from here, far away from the stress, far away from computers, development and customers.

Therefore I will not write anything more for this weekend and I will try not to think about the too many things that doesn’t work in my life…
Have a nice Weekend to all of you!!!!!

ADSL: Un’altra beffa!

Gentile Cliente,
Restiamo a Sua disposizione.

Sciolism or On-Field Knowledge?
Posted by Carlo - 24/01/06 at 09:01:45 amOver and Over I get involved in discussion about one knowledge or one other….
I have to put beforehand (once more) that I’m working in the Information Technology field, where the “sciolism of the book knowledge” is too many differs to the practice.
Books are filled of knowledge and terms that means everything and nothing at the same time, and practice is filled of exceptions.

What is the best approach to the real world of the Information Technology? Sciolism or On-Field Knowledge?
Well I think that both must exist to grant everyone a good survival chance through the pit traps of the IT projects, the stumble of the development languages and so on.

Freezing…
Posted by Carlo - 23/01/06 at 09:01:39 amYesterday Fabiana and I were discussing about the strange temperature of these days.
In fact yesterday afternoon there were something like 10C and a good sunny weather.
-Strange for the end of january- we said happily, foretasting the spring.
This morning we have been immediately hushed from the weather: -4C with our cold wind (the Bora) that let you feel something like three centigrades less than the real temperature.

Ouside of our house it seemed to me to have seen a penguin that was trying to slip into our kitchen to stay warm with our cats! :)
Of course I am quite joking, but feeling 17C less than twelve hours before is not that easy!

Over Ten Thousands!
Posted by Carlo - 22/01/06 at 08:01:22 pmToday, looking lazily to our site, I have seen that the visits counter has get over the ten thousands visitors.
With near fifteen thousands visited pages since the end of june 2005, we have been visited from a large amout of nations worldwide, an incredible amount of crawlers (we were hit near fiftytwo thousands times) and a shocking number of stupid spammers

We’d like to say Thank you to all of you, in the hope you have appreciated our thoughts and you will return back in the future.
Thank You!

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix!
Posted by Carlo - 20/01/06 at 04:01:01 pmI’ve left another Harry Potter book behind me.
Today I was not well, so I didn’t go to work, and I have finally the time to finish reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

First of all I have to say that this was the first book I read before the movie (of course, it is not in theaters yet… and it will not be for at least one year) and I appreciated it a lot.

Information Technology in Italy: a hard cohabitation!
Posted by Carlo - 17/01/06 at 02:01:58 pmThis is a reflection about the Information Technology in the land in which the “DOTCOM bubble” has never arrived.
Information Technology in the world is feeded with a lot of money, with a lot of people working in and with a methodology that does not simply looks to the “application” and the “development”, but that enhances the computer world to something really useful.
Maybe I’m a little cryptic, but I will try to explain you some little things.
Most of the people I’ve told what my job is has immediately told me:
-What do you do?!?
-I am an Analyst and Software Developer. I take the needs of a customer, I analyze it and start a project with a group of people to create an application…
-Ah! Ok, now I understand…- the all finished -You are one of those nerds that knows computers and write that code that make the computer works!

The problem is the ignorance. No one must feel himself/herself offended by my words, because ignorance means only that someone ignores the real world I am talking about. (I am ignorant in a VERY large number of things…)
So, what am I doing and WHY Italy is a “field ploughed with salt“?
