Iran: the problem is not atomic, is Economic!

Today I was waiting in queue to see my doctor and to kill the time I was reading a weekly newspaper when something held my attention: Iranian problems with the US.

In the article was clearly written that a group of experts has told the UN that even if they will start planning a Nuclear Warhead, they will need at least ten years to complete the development. Besides the experts have refused to accept the USA analysis that is reporting that Iran already have the Nuclear Bomb, or they are ready to finish its development (I’d like to remember all of you that the same experts told the world Iraq had Mass Murder weapons… and they were wrong!)
Returning to the main plot of this post… I read that Iran has started the development of another bomb against USA: they would start to exchange all their Petroleum in Euro and not in Dollars. If you are not an Economist-Born like me you are asking yourself: and what the h**l will change if they sell their petroleum in € and not in $?

Would you like me trying to explain some little things about this?

Lo scetticismo Americano: l’ennesima figuraccia!

Ancora una volta ho trovato un link ad un giornale USA che parla di Berlusconi. Quando vado a vedere questi giornali spero sempre, per rispetto alla nostra Nazione, di trovarci dentro qualche bella parola, qualche incitazione, qualche cosa che mi faccia essere fiero di quello che siamo e su chi siamo governati, ma alla fine mi ritrovo sempre nelle stesse situazioni, sempre a leggere cose che vorrei evitare, ma che per dovere di cronaca leggo.
La mia simpatia non va verso Silvio Berlusconi, ma a volte mi stupisco di quanto questa mancanza di simpatia diventi una tragica antipatia per un uomo che, tralasciando tutte le parole nostrane, viene descritto in maniera estremamente critica da praticamente tutte le stampe estere. Volete cadere anche voi nella cecita’ di coloro che continuano ad urlare ad una Cospirazione Comunista? Fate pure, vi domanderei solo se il comunismo era in Russia o negli Stati Uniti d’America, paese di provenienza del giornale di cui cito l’articolo…

Questa volta e’ il settimanale NewsWeek che parla del nostro Presidente del Consiglio, cominciando l’articolo con un’affermazione che mi ha fatto rabbrividire:

Berlusconi: “When I see the American flag, I don’t see just a symbol of a country, I see a symbol of freedom and democracy.”
Giornalista: “And the European flag?”
Berlusconi: “…” pause “…Under constuction”

Berlusconi: “Quando vedo la bandiera Americana, non vedo solo il simbolo di un paese, vedo il simbolo di Liberta’ e Democrazia.”
Giornalista: “E la bandiera Europea?”
Berlusconi: “…” pausa “…in costruzione”
In Costruzione?????? Per fortuna che questo e’ solo l’inizio di un articolo che tratta approfonditamente il quinquennio passato e i momenti di guerriglia politica attuale, che mostra una nazione considerata il fanalino di coda dell’Europa, una nazione in pericolo e una nazione piu’ strettamente legata a Washington che a Bruxelles. “Italia: Europa” o “Italia: Stati Uniti“?

L’articolo non risparmia bordate neppure per il “Soporifero Prodi” e si domanda se cambierebbe qualcosa con un nuovo governo di differenti provenienze politiche, ma soprattutto si domanda se il crollo economico del Bel Paese e’ o meno arrestabile.

Io sono sinceramente scandalizzato da come le notizie estere non riescano a trapelare la cortina di silenzio imposta dalla stampa Italiana, dalle televisioni e da tutto quello che dovrebbe fare notizia, ed e’ invece eccessivamente legata all’Industria del Potere.

Internet2 by examples: ajaxWrite and Writely!

I heard a lot of things about Internet2, even if there is not a clear definition for it and even if the name is usually misused. But  The next step of the World Wide Web will not be such a revolution on what I can see now, because there will not be a big technological gap between the actual website and the tomorrow’s ones.

If you are expecting something like  Matrix, well for now you will have to wait a little bit more, but for those who never heard about the next step for internet, or for those who knows a lot of things, but have missed this new little piece of thing, I’d like you to take a look at a good piece of future, where Office will not be an application on your computer any longer.
Yes, you have heard well, no more 700 MB of installer, no more money for installing it. To use a good word processor (for now, but the other office applications have been already planned for the future) you can easily take a look on Writely and ajaxWrite. Take a look at what you can do directly on your web browser, and you should get shocked by the advancement of the simple HTML (that HTML is not any longer…)

“A” and “B” series for Internet? No thanks!

AT&T, leader in american telecommunications, has took a role in the silent game for the Net Neutrality.

First of all, what is Net Neutrality and who is playing a role in the game?
On one side we can found the Internet Service Providers (like Verizon, BellSouth, Comcast and now AT&T) and on the other side the Content Providers. US government is going to create a law to preserve the Net Neutrality, a single speed network that could be accessible by anyone. Instead of this ISPs are trying to grant a two speed Internet to grant better access to those who will pay more, in order to create two customers typology.

No Thanks! Why?

If, from one side, you would be able to afford the prices of the high speed connection, this would mean a fast navigation through certain high-speed sites and content provider, from the other side with a low-band connection nothing will change. The fact is that we should keep in mind that the two speeds will not be applied only to the final users, but also on the content providers.
First of all this will mean that the content providers will have more expences to grant the users a larger bandwidth.

Battlestar Galactica

Yesterday, still cripled by a stupid flu, Fabiana and I remained at home in the evening, to relax a little bit.
On the normal TV there were anything (what a surprise…) and also SkyTv seems to broadcast only poor things… when my eyes were attracted from a miniseries title: Battlestar Galactica. If you have followed FCHOUSE lately, I wrote a post about the film Serenity, in which I clearly expressed my love for Science Fiction!

We were inspired by the title (and of course because we expected a Science Fiction series) and what we saw was very good!!!

La semplice (IN)utilita’ delle Banche On-Line Italiane

Tutto sommato non mi lamentavo eccessivamente della mia banca: tutto on-line, nessun grosso problema nel contattarli eccetera eccetera… A volte capita che io debba ritirare soldi da uno sportello di una banca affiliata e quindi devo avere degli assegni e fare tutta la trafila (e pagare 2 euro e rotti per ogni prelievo), ma sono cose a cui posso passare sopra.

Ci sono cose che pero’ non riesco proprio a capire per una “Banca On Line“, che dovrebbe essere abituata a trattare con persone che vogliono una pagina web da cui fare tutto.

Ho bisogno di una carta che certifichi che non sono mai andato in rosso, che ho sempe pagato le utenze nelle tempistiche stabilite, che ho sempre ricevuto il mio stipendio sul conto eccetera eccetera, una sorta di Fedina Bancaria insomma, che attesti che sono un buon cliente.
Ottimo: chiamo il call center e una gentile signorina mi spiega che e’ sufficiente inviare una richiesta dal sito, che e’ una cosa normale e che la banca puo’ farlo senza il minimo problema.
Bellissimo!
Non perdo un momento, mi loggo sul sito con le mie credenziali, navigo nell’area apposita e invio una richiesta. Detto, Fatto!

Star Wars: it’s NOT over! (and I feel fine)

I was ready to go to sleep, but when I was ready to turn off the background television (Sky Cine News) I got the latest news on George Lucas: he will not stop where he is!

First of all in fall2006 he will start filming Indiana Jones IV, with Stephen Spielberg and Harrison Ford, and will be released in 2007!

but more important (In My Humble Opinion) Lucas has confirmed that Star Wars will have its own TV Series, that will be aired in 2008! read on for something about the Star Wars TV Series…

FCHS: the first public beta release of my Open Source statistic plugin for Wordpress!

UPDATE (20.11.2006): I have released the version 0.5 r1 of the FCHS Plugin…
Well, after long months of inactivity (I had no time to continue the development phase) I have decided to release the version 0.3 (beta 3) for everyone who wants to try a site statistic…

FCHS Plugin is Open Source and everyone who wants to modify it… well, just do it .

You can find the downloads and the install instruction on the page on the right side of thi site! Or just go on reading!

UPDATE: I immediately found a little bug, already resolved! (stupid division by 0!)

Wordpress Upgrade… finally!

Today I have the flu, so I decided to make the jump, upgrading wordpress to the latest version!

I backed up the database and all the files I had in my folder, just to be sure to be able to rollback every possible crash. The installation procedure was perfect and now the core of FCHOUSE is under Wordpress 2.0.2, even if, as you can see, there are no aesthetical changes to the layout.

Thanks to Enzo I’ve added some plugins I’ve seen working on his site. Fortunately all the plugins I was used to use are working perfectly with this version, so I’m happy! Of course if you will see something that is not working, contact me!

Well, now I will take a look to some new layout… thing evolves continuously, and so this site does, therefore if I will find some nice theme…

Ciao a tutti!
Ho trovato il video per il quale mi sono VERGOGNATO e che mi fara’ tenere le orecchie basse per lungo tempo quando qualcuno dira’ qualcosa contro gli Italiani.
Osservatelo e ditemi: se voi fosse stati un dipendente e aveste fatto quello che questo signore ha fatto… per quanto tempo avreste manenuto il vostro lavoro?

Ma tutto questo NON E’ MAI STATO PASSATO IN ITALIA IN TUTTO IL SUO SPLENDORE!!!!! E’ QUESTA LA LIBERTA’ DI STAMPA????
