…and the MacBook is finally here!
today, after long time, I returned to be a Mac User!
I have received my white MacBook and I’m already moving everything on it. The first thing I have done was testing the environment, getting used to the “Apple” button and then I installed some programs.
I have to admit that one of the first tests has been the installation of Firefox. I have nothing against Safari, but the browser is a choice of heart! I have already installed Parallels and I have moved the virtual machine I had done some days ago on this jewel! Windows 2003 works like a charm: it is fast, the development environment is good and everything works as if you were working on a normal laptop, maybe not one of the best… but it’s more than enough for me!
Now I’m transferring a lot of data and I’m trying not to search a lot of shortcuts I was used to use under Winzoz… I’m happy and the MacOs X (it was the first time I was working on it) seems very fast and reliable.
One more (small) news: this month FCHouse has gone over 2700 visitor, the most visited (and most commented) month since the beginning of my digital words. Thank You to everyone of you!
PS: The “end” button and some other shortcuts seems to be more difficult to learn: my fingers go directly to the upper-right corner of the keyboard (fantastic, BTW) and I usually launch the widgets! :)

PS: Hai provato anche F11 e F10? :) gli unici hortcuts che ricordo bene (oltre Mela-k) sono:
- Mela-Shift-3: cattura l’intero schermo e lo salva in un file
- Mela-Shift-4: il cursore si trasforma in un “mirino”, tenendo premuto il tasto del mouse e trascinandolo si seleziona un’area da “fotografare” che viene evidenziata in grigio trasparente
- Mela-Shift-4, poi spazio: il cursore si trasforma in una macchina fotografica che evidenzia, questa volta in giallo, la finestra sopra la quale si sposta il mouse e poi la fotografa (la finestra viene fotografata per intero, anche se sullo schermo essa appare parzialmente coperta da un’altra finestra).

uhm… devo farmi un paio di note su tutti gli shortcuts…
al momento sto cercando di evitare di cannare ” con @ (la mia vecchia tastiera era diversa, nonostante fosse UK anche quella) e i tasti tipo “fine”, “home” e cose varie proprio non riesco ad abituarmici in fretta… ma basteranno un paio di sessioni di codice e volero’, anche perche’ questa tastiera e’ ECCEZIONALE!

La prima volta che la vidi rimasi un pochino deluso: non sembrava essere una cosa “buona”. Indubbiamente la presentazione estetica mi piaceva, era in linea con il resto del portatile, ma alla fine avevo il timore che fosse un’altra di quelle tastiere inutilizzabili (al tempo ne usai una di un compaq che era tragica)
Al contrario, la prima volta che toccai con mano un macbook (all’Apple Store di Regent Street) mi stupi’ la qualita’ con la quale i tasti funzionavano. Al momento le mie dita “Volano” sulla tastiera e devo ammettere che forse (il giudizio deve venire dopo mesi di utilizzo) questa tastiera e’ ancora migliore di quelle degli IBM (che ho sempre considerato essere il TOP delle tastiere).

Yeah I alternate between Firefox and Safari too. I like and dislike particular things about both browsers. I still have yet to put Windows XP on my MacBook … I hope to do it soon! I hear great things about Parallels.

AS I told, the browser is a decision coming from your heart… I have worked years without opening IE (If not for testing purpose, and with too many problems…)
For Windows: If I could have avoided it, I wouldn’t have installed it, but unfortunately i can’t live without is. From the other side I have to tell that Fortunately parallels works perfectly!
The installations is really simple now (you are asked for the few information required in the beginning and then Parallels does everything you need by itself!) Really Good!!!!
