Artificial Intelligence and Government

today I was thinking about some of our Trieste Brilliant Brain, that has decided to fix one of the road that lead to the seaside now, in June!
You have to know that the Trieste inhabitants are like lizards, when the first sun comes to tell us that the summer is coming, they overcrowd the seaside and the ONLY street tath leads there! Yes, we have only ONE seaside (no beach and sand, but rocks with the street 10 meters away) and ONE way to get there!
AND YES, THEY START THEIR JOB NOW!
What a Brilliant Brain, what a perfect sense of timing, what…
what an idiocy!
So (and there it comes the “…What If…”) think about a computer with a sort of Artificial Intelligence, that will help these TBB (Trieste Brilliant Brain) to let us live in peace, without staring at the stupid things they do (the last one in order of time was the one to start a paving in front of the main square, Piazza Unita’, on 30 December!). I can obviously remember 10 Hollywood Movies that show a perfect AI (Artificial Intelligence) that understand that the humans are the main problem for the humanity and decide to wipe them out, but I’m not talking about “Pure” science fiction, I talk about ideas for the future.
Sometimes I get my motorbike and ride through the city: 100 meters and a red traffic light, another 100 meters and another traffic light… Hey, who studied the timing for that traffic light is a real TBB!!!! A computer (not an AI, something like my laptop) with a good application should help the traffic in this chaotic city! No one ever thought about it?
Then my mind fall in one of that dangerous thoughts that lead me in “Nowhereland”, thoughts that help me to get angry with the world, that help me to think that Italy and italian government (local or not) MUST BECAME ADULT!
Yes, my idea is that our democracy are creating a new type of Human Being (even if I think that this kind of humans are the original one…): the ones who “eat” everything they can, just because they can.
Hey, Man, you shoul represent ME, you should represent MY IDEALS and MY NEEDS! Why are you betraying the things you told us? Why are you betraying US!?!?!
Yes, they are betraying the ideals that help them to get where they are, because now thay are on that CHAIR that grant them the possibility to get an incredible amount of money doing nothing!
Who would not act like them? Won’t you take advantage of your position? Neither a litte?
Who would not act like them?
a Computer!
Yes, because we can tell this AI what is right and what is wrong. “He” (”She”, “It”, whatever you like) should learn frome some basic rules, helping us to simplifyour life!
It is not a race for who is the most stupid man in town, even if it a branch of Politic, I am talking about the real life that we are SO EXPERT to make it harder.
Don’t you think that a computer shouldn’t had started some street maintenance job at the beginning of june in the ONLY STREET THAT LEAD TO THE SEASIDE? Ok, neither an intelligent man shouldn’t, but this is rhetoric… Don’t you think that an Artificial Intelligence wouldn’t have been capable of syncronizing the traffric lights on the traffic congestion analysis?
Don’t you think that a computer will never be corrupted?
I like to think something similar to: “Hei, if you want that paper signed, you could support me with a new slot of 1 Gb of RAM…” YEAH! :-))))

Ok, this is just kidding, but my real idea is that we have created a machine that can help us to simplify our life (I think that telling that the computer can “Think” is a little bit unrealistic, even if possible) and we are using them only to let us write our thoughts and a little more.
When will we open our mind understanding that our creation can REALLY support our life, every day. Ok, maybe removing the politic is MORE than Science Fiction (it is an Utopia) but we can work on it.
The next election I will wote for IBM ThinkPolitic 2.1, I’m sure he will not create 2 hour queue in the only road that lead to the seaside!!
