Asphalt and Sweat

Asphalt and Sweat, originally uploaded by Carlo Nicora.

Few days ago I walked out of my door and I have found that the road was closed. They were asphalting it. It was a moment. I suddenly stopped, I grabbed my camera and I shoot them. The guy on the left side of the photo smiled at me, without the single concern of "what I was doing". Shooting like this is very rewarding, not being seen as someone dangerous.
People, especially in London, do not realize that it is completely useless to hide from a camera pointed at them. The confirmation to this can be seen in the top left corner of this shot.
I like the smoke coming out from the asphalt, the sense of reality of this photo. I was going to remove the little tilting, but it would have hidden the item on the top-left corner, and I feel it was a very important part of the shot.
PS: The junction remained closed for few hours, time to dig it, fix it and cover it again… this is how things should work.
