Distractions
She was waiting there, in the middle of the road. The cars were passing around her, but she did not mind. Then something attracted her attention and se looked right, not any longer interested in the traffic, and in that moment she seemed so immersed in her thoughts that the reality was nothing but a background noise.
When the cars coming from her left (she was in the middle of an English road) stopped at the red light, she stood there, not realizing she could have crossed the road.
Sometimes it happens: they are just distractions!
