Sometimes I stop myself thinking about some things that does not work in this silly world…
Today I was considering the spam problem. This week I have received more than 300 spam messages.
I think Spam is good if you want to:
But for the rest spam is only 6 Mb a week of shit you have to download. If you’re with ADSL and you don’t pay for what you download it can be simply a waste of time, but thinking about some new futuristic vision of the technology (Always connected through wireless connection to your PocketPc or something similar) this can be a waste of money.
Some days ago I connected to my e-mail account while I was on a bus, trying to made some tricks working on my PocketPc. After some minutes of configurations, in some seconds i get only the headers of 15 new e-mail.I had to say that it worked very well: fast, useful and a good thing to do for a Tech Junkie like me! Obviously I get 15 mail of spam… then I checked the price of that: 60 eurocents!
OUCH!
I usually check my e-mail once every 5 minutes (flat ADSL are a good starting point for me), think about spending 60 eurocent every 5 minutes… Even if GPRS let you pay only for the downloaded bytes and I get 50 spam e-mail a day, it means 3 or 4 euro a day.
Useless!
GPRS is NOT CHEAP in Italy, but returning to the main problem… what is the function of e-mail if your folder is always full of shit?
I like e-mail, I use it every minute and I think it’s something I cannot live without, but with all this SPAM I’m start thinking that a different way of managing it is becoming necessary! Hiding yourself behind fake identities is something that should NOT be available. Does an e-mail comes from “Terence Dick”? Well, I like to think that “Terence” is a real man. But nowadays he is only a fucking idiot that want to gain money sending millions of e-mail…
If you hide yourself behind a fake name you are only a coward, even if the “Net” allows you.
There should be hundreds of thoughts to be put on the paper, but it seems that the ones who can change the things are not interested in changing the rules…
My name is Carlo and when you will receive a mail from me don’t worry, I’ll never send you SPAM!
I HATE SPAM!
