Hand in Hand

Hand in Hand

Few things are more reassuring than someone keeping your hand. There may be noise, crowd, the whole scary world out there, but nothing is too dangerous if your guide is holding your hand. And if one is reassuring, having both your hands kept by guardians’ hands is peace.
There was a large crowd this year at the Carnival. I can only imagine watching the show from a child perspective. Many people walking along, colors, noises… it can be scary.
This little girl was walking alongside two women. She was deeply attracted, but scared at the same time, by something in front of her. I cannot remember what it was, but I remember thinking that she seemed intent in deciding if it was scary or deeply interesting. I did not want to shot the two guardians she had, but I wanted to keep their hands in the frame.
I have been in trouble with the post production of this photo. The original did not have interesting colors, but black and white did not satisfy me enough. It was a little tilted, but without any reference it has been hard straightening it. Nevertheless I have decided to publish it.
An hymn to the children, our future.
