Hideaki Anno and the exhausted Japanese animation…

Today my curiosity pushed me to search some information on Evangelion. Some months ago I heard the rumor that some new films would have been released, but there was nothing sure, so this morning (with some very strange logic connections) I searched in the most updated site for these information: Wikipedia!

After few lines on the Evangelion Article I find some cross reference to Rebuild of Evangelion: maybe I am a little late, but it’s just today that I discovered that the project of four brand new films is reality, sad to say there will be very few new things, because Rebuild of Evangelion is really a rebuild of the original story.

Rebuild of EvangelionI was made curious by another link on wikipedia: Hideaki Anno reasons for Rebuild of Evangelion!

Now, I have read them with interest, but there is something I don’t understand… I actually think that Evangelion is the Best Anime ever produced, but if Anno thinks that the Japanese animation industry is exhausted [The desire to connect today's exhausted Japanese animation [industry] to the future… When we decided that we wanted to something to support the anime [industry] of today, the determination to return to this title was strong.] he should have done something better than confirming this about himself too! He could have worked on another project like Eva, he could have started something being sure that the funding would not have been cut halfway (like for Evangelion).

Instead Hideaki Anno has decided to live in the past, confirming that the Japanese animation industry is exhausted indeed, like the artists!

I’m sure I will watch Rebuild of Evangelion, but I would have loved something really new from Anno. I’m still waiting for the new anime that will make me tell: “Evangelion is not the Best any longer”, but clearly this is not the moment and Hideaki Anno is not the right person right now!
