In the sea of memories

In the sea of memories

In these days I am migrating my Aperture library to a different structure. More over I am also importing all my library in iPhoto, to see if it makes sense to remove a lot of old photos from my main library, pushing them into another type of “memory holder”.
Looking the flow of almost 30.000 photos I am dragged back into the past. I am meeting the people I lived, those I loved as a brother, those I still call friends. Looking back is, from time to time, bittersweet. Memories can be hard to recall, some others were in a cosy angle of my mind. Photos are like this, they have the ability to bring memories to life.
Good photos bring memories as they were, not as the time washed them.
I have some deep hole in my timeline, all those moment I did not use a camera to keep a copy of my memories, of my past. I look back and I think that it is a shame.
I looked to the people whose road divided from mine long time ago, and some of them are still painful. I consider myself naive from certain perspective, but I like what I see inside myself.
So, guys, take photos, as many as you can. Use a DSLR, a film camera, a compact, your phone, but take them. Preserve your memories, good or bad, because our experience defines the way we become. A photo is a moment that will always live.

There is so much truth to what you have written. I have huge gaps in which I could fill the void with images. Never again will I make the same mistake.

I am a huge MAC user and I just began playing around with Aperture. From what I here…I will enjoy it.

Nice portfolio of memories.
