FCHouse A blog about our lives, our passions, our photos

Let’s try Google AdSense.

In these days I questioned myself on the ad on the various blogs. I’ve seen a lot of them using very big ads, covering big parts of the sidebar. I don’t like them. I’ve always thought that AdSense were good enough, but for one reason or another, I’ve never tried to have them on FCHouse.

Google AdSense LogoToday I’ve decided to try them, also thanks to Jason, which words has been the right one at the right moment. I’ve set a banner on the top of the page, using the same color of the general layout, a google search box on the right and a banner “Pro Firefox” in the sidebar, but at the end of it.

I do not expect to have great revenue with it, but maybe the next time my little server will have some problems, those ads will help me fixing the hard drive or buying some more ram… or finding a good hosting service: my dream is a virtual machine running Ubuntu, where I can play with all my stuff without “tech support

Let me know what do you think, if you like it or if, in your opinion, it is only a stupid thing!

Cool… you might be pleasantly surprised. Anyhow one tip is… don’t click on your own ads… you probably have heard that before, but Google watches for click fraud. So… welcome to the fun and keep writing the good content as you do… it’s not about the ads ultimately!

Yeah, I know perfectly about the rules :)
Thanks very much for the compliment about the contents :)
As I told you, the key is not blogging for money, the key is going on with my ideas, writing my personal experience and whatever go through my brain!
I’m driven by ideals and thoughts, not money (even if I don’t dislike :P )

Ultimately, it won’t do you any harm! Though, it doesn’t pay enough to give up the day job, at least it’s *something* for your efforts.

Hi Ian!
I have never thought to pay anything with some banners on this blog. One of the issues that I kept into consideration while deciding if set it up or not was the main target of the blog. Personally I don’t read the ads in the web pages, but there are people I know that are able to skip the real contents because of some “interesting” ads. My opinion is: I prefer to fly low with my money, but give this blog’s visitor mainly content than other…

Well… meanwhile I’m still trying hard to improve my English, filing the constant mistakes (like the “s” that I put where they shouldn’t go and that I forgot in other places) and enriching my dictionary! :P

Am I doing a decent job on myself?

Cheers

This is a tall idea, Carlo…

E’ veramente un’ottima idea. Soprattutto perchè, alla base, c’è un fine da raggiungere:

those ads will help me fixing the hard drive or buying some more ram… or finding a good hosting service: my dream is a virtual machine running Ubuntu, where I can play with all my stuff without “tech support”

…meanwhile I’m still trying hard to improve my English

Now I realise why I shouldn’t continue to write comments in italian. I’m a bit out of practice with my english: practice makes perfect…
