Meeka

Meeka

For this shot I got closer to Meeka, asking her to look into my lens, trying to imagine it like a screen where a nice film was shown…

Being in a studio is quite fun. I like to play with lights, but at the same time I miss the street, especially in these short, dark days. In studio you can play with calm, dictating the tempo and orchestrating what you want to see. I like this.
Fabiana and I used the flashes for some time each, and when one was directing and mastering the lights, the other mounted a fast lens and played around using the continuous lights. It was nice to shoot a little bit with the aid of some powerful flashes and some times letting another direct the scene and just stealing some photos.
After the first hard dozens of minutes, taking photos of Meeka and her brother Tai become fun. The two of them are at their ease in front of the camera and they are easy to be directed.
For this shot I got closer to Meeka, asking her to look into my lens, trying to imagine it like a screen where a nice film was shown. She held her head with her tiny hand and did as I asked, opening her eyes wide open and watching inside the camera with this dreamy look. The time it took Fabiana to mount the correct lens, check the light and decide the setting I was gone, leaving the field to her shots.
