Milady, did you enjoy the museum?
A lady walks out from the British Museum in London in a sunny December day. London, 4th December 2008
My experience with the new Canon 5D Mark II was brilliant and I have to thank Canon and 1000heads for having given me the opportunity. The first five minutes I had the camera in my hands were spent going through the menu and the various functions. The new screen is fantastic, the improvement from my 40D are huge, both in resolution and in visibility.
I do not usually use the screen too much to be honest, I check the histograms from time to time, but I am not one of those who review every photo: my “review time” after a shot is set to 0.
After the presentation we headed towards the British Museum. The first time I went there, more than four years ago, I was not impressed by it, and neither I was the other day. Four years ago, however, I underestimated the quality of the museum in attracting people: exactly what I needed to test the camera.
Many of the photographers that were with me aimed to details in low light condition, things that the 5D Mk II is great at, but I wanted to use the camera as if it was my “weapon of choice” and I started shooting people like I usually do. I felt immediately at home, the ergonomic difference with the 40D is minimal and the settings were pretty easy to change, as the commands are very similar.
