FCHouse A blog about our lives, our passions, our photos

My portrait month

Some time ago I decided I would have improved my photography skills. I did not know where to start nor which were my weakest points. For a long time I kept remembering myself that I should have done something, but there was always something more important (sometimes the urge to conquer the world, some others my being tired by the day). Now I finally decided to do what I wanted to do for a long time!

I contacted a photographer in London, Gary Alexander. I really do not know why I did choose him, but we have a good email exchange, and he helped me to uncover some of the fog that was blinding me.  First of all he made me choose a specific genre: from tomorrow I will start taking portraits of perfect strangers across London.

He told me that in order to catch this kind of photos I have to push my “comfort zone”. Asking perfect stranger if I can take photos of them will not be easy for me, but it is a nice challenge!

For a month I will wander around London with my camera in my spare time, trying to accomplish some good photos. If one day, walking through Soho, you will meet someone asking to pose for a portrait, give him a chance, he may be me!

Will be interesting to see in what way you’ll manage the relationships with the “perfect strangers”. I taken a dozen of beautiful portrait to unknown people (standing at the race) during the last “Grand Nation” but I hadn’t so brave to ask…

Keep me informed :)

Hi Zuzu,
I think that the part of asking will be the most difficult one.
I started going around with my camera always with me, and today the sun is bright… maybe today will be a good day for some test!

Cheers
