New fantasy films ready?

Some years ago I whatched the film of Dungeons & Dragons and I felt sick. It was a real crap!

EragonYesterday I have seen that 20th Century Fox is ready to release Eragon, another fantasy film draw from a book. Now, if you don’t keep “The Lord of the Rings” into consideration, which other fantasy film can you consider “Great”? Can we keep into consideration Labyrinth (1986, 20 years ago), because Dragonheart was nothing special (and again, it was 10 years ago)…

Now, I didn’t read Eragon, but I know that he had a lot of success, but taking a look at the Trailer, I had a flashback. In the beginning it was a sleeper thought, something my mind was able to identify, something scary about it. Then I realized that one of the main characters is interpreted by Jeremy Irons. For the few of you who has been so unlucky to have been the horrified spectators of “Dungeons & Dragons“, you should remember him! This analogy is not a good sign (even if he seems to be a good actor) but the scary things inside me was not able to get away.

Now, I really hope this film is not as terrible as others, but my fears are great. I really don’t know if I will have the courage to go to the cinema… maybe I will wait for the DVD…

I’ve also seen the trailer of Pan’s Labyrinth, another fantasy film ready to be released. The first impression I had has been associated to Narnia, a film that was quite good, but that I’ve forgot hours after leaving the cinema. I don’t know why I have thought about it looking at the trailer…
