In these days I am evaluating a new Linux distribution: the OpenSuSE 10.
SuSE is one of those distributions that are not free on the market, but like every linux environment, it has a completely free version: this is the OpenSuSE. The price of the commercial version are not comparable with the Windows environment: the SuSE comes in 2 DVDs and 5 CDs for the incredible price of 70 euro. But of course if you want to use your COMPLETELY FREE OPERATING SYSTEM you can use a large number of distribution, and OpenSuSE is one of those.

I have recently started a migration to linux, because of a lot of reasons…

The power of Windows is based upon a very simple point: simplicity! You do not have to care about the installation, because your brand new PC comes with that virus already installed, and I can understand that if you are not a “Computer Geek“, you will never try to reintall your OS!
The sad thing is that too many people, when I tell them “Why don’t you switch to Linux? It’s an operating system, but it is Completely Free.“, they answered me “What is an Operating System?

You shouldn’t laugh!
YOU GEEK!… like me…

The weakest point of linux is here: when you install it on your PC there is ALWAYS something that does not works!
To install this distro on my t42p I had a lot of problems: my wireless, my screen resolution….
I hope that linux will be able to get more and more install easyness, so the war against Microsoft will be able to start seriously!!!!! :)

YaST, the configuration manager of SuSE and OpenSuSE is, for sure, one of the better Linux Manager available!
