Persimmons Land
Once there was a song by Elio e le Storie Tese, an Italian group, that told that Italy was the “Persimmins Land”.
What does it means?
It means that it Italy what is Right is Right, but something is Wrong, and what is Wrong… well… it depends on the context if it is Wrong or Right.
It means that some scandals could end the career of everyone in all the world, but in Italy? Is the things like this?
No.
Take as example the scandal of Lapo Elkan, the future of FIAT. He has been in coma for two days for a mixture of drugs. He is the face of FIAT, one of the biggest italian firms, he is the man on which a lot of people give trust for the economical rebirth of Italy.
And now? Now, in the Persimmons Land, the outcome will be some excuses, some time of “God Bless Me! I’m Sorry” and then the story will continue as it was before. Nothing changes here, not the style of life, not the abuses perpetuated by the “Big Names“, not the sad life
I really believe that italians are Persimmons:
- They are Good, like Persimmons
- They are vivacious people colorite, like Persimmons
- They are dirty outside, like Persimmons
- If you do not handle well, you’ll end dirty too, like Persimmons
- They are sweet, but iside they have a lot of stones, like Persimmons
Can you give me more analogies?
I’m tired of beign a Persimmon, I’m tired of the thigs that I can see every day here around, I’m tired of being different from the mass of Persimmons here around!
Right is Right, and Wrong is Wrong!
Grey areas can be found everywhere, but Italy is Gray in 99% of the things, and the rest 1% are the stupid like me, who dream a better Italy.
I always heard some persimmons telling me “Ha ha ha, Americans had voted an actor (Ronald Regan) as their president…“, but what have we done here? We skipped the “actors” level, and we elected a producer, one with the power of the media from its side!
