I just got the dark backdrop and I wanted to test my strobist kit, playing around a little. Unfortunately Fabiana was still at work, so I decided to try my medicine directly on myself. I took more or less fifty photos in total, playing with exposure, light, colors and poses. These two were the ones I liked more, and I saw them well together.
I was facing a shoot trough translucent umbrella in two sequential photos, then i just mirrored one of the two (the right part is original).
Standing behind a flash is not as nice as standing behing the camera, but it gives you a lot of perspective. In the half an hour I spent shooting myself I have learned a lot on how to achieve something from a model. It is a very interesting game to play from time to time: it remembers you some small details that will help you next time you will find yourself facing a model.
Strobist Info: Vivitar 285 HV standing on the left in the left frame and on the right in the right one at 1/16th of power. Shoot trough translucent umbrella some 10cm from my nose, a little higher
