Staring at the Lenses
There was a pretty huge crowd during the Mayor’s Thames Festival the last weekend. In some parts of the South Bank shooting with the long 70-200 was almost impossible: I would have hit the lens on someone’s head. And I am not joking.
Fabiana was highly undecided on the lens to use, so she swapped some times. This time she was handling the 18-85 IS USM. It was a pretty flexible lens for uses like this one, I decided to go for the 28mm. The only con of it is that the auto focus is abysmal, very slow. Not being able to focus manually (I should change the focusing screen) I went for the cheating f/8 800ISO manual focus 1m-infinite. The good thing about it is that I can really play around!
In this shot Fabiana was just removing some drops of water from her lens with highly advanced lens cleaning tools (!).
When I imported the photo I noticed the direct eye contact of the other girl in the frame: it adds interest to the whole in my opinion.
On another note I would like to start a new personal project: Street Portraits. I am looking for people willing to be shot by me on the streets of London. The Street is the Studio and the real people are the Models. Are you interested? Contact me: I need your soul! :)
