“State of Fear”: I’m ready to discuss.

State of Fear, the latest Crichton book, is not a novel.
Of course, if you have read the book you should look at these words, a little bit amazed. Don’t worry, we read the same book, but my analysis on it is a little deeper.
This is the first books from Crichton whose story didn’t enthuse me. All the characters are intelligent, beautiful, full of money, full of resources… It seemed a copy of some fashion magazine, where in 200 full color pages you can’t get a single gram of fat! I didn’t like it: the chatacters weren’t real! And then the plot… after reading “Timeline” I was hoping for something good, maybe decent… The plot was a shit. Really!

so… what about this “Global Warming” we are scared of?

So you didn’t like the book “State of Fear”? - you should ask me…

It’s not true.

I didn’t like the “Novel” called “State of Fear”, but the book itself is more deep than the little story… yes, because I think that behind the story, there are some messages that are important for us, messages that show clearly that it doesn’t matter who’s right and who’s wrong, but that show a big mess that can’t be resolved in conventional way.
I will not reveal anything about the novel, because maybe someone is still reading it, but some points Crichton wrote opened my eyes. For the first time I have seen a writer debating some things, pointing out his toughts, but also PROPOSING some solution to a real problem.
let me put some points on paper:

State of Fear is the way we are living nowadays, the fear that cover us continuously.

We are destroying our planet…
Climate Change: Countdown to Global Catastrophe…

All of this CAN BE right, but we (normal human beings) are IGNORANT on what is happening. In the Crichton book I have found too many things that sounds correct, even if he wasn’t telling what I believe in!
If you will read that book you shall easily tell that he is against the idea of the Global Warming, but I do not think it is the truth: he unveils the wrong methodology used to create the fear of the climate changes. He tells that something MUST be done, but NOT in the way someone is doing today!

Who pays the bills for the research pretends some results, but only the results he wanna hear, so the scientists are reluctant to tell differently, because they will loose their job (most probably). I think that Crichton told a right thing when he expose the thought that the scientists should be financed not by a single benefactor, but by a group that should never expect anything from a research.
If a scientists get the money to tell what is happening nowadays, he/she could tell what he will find, not what his/her patron is expecting to hear!
Let’s create a global found for the real research, where everyone could invest his money.
Yes! Let’s do it!
But never let the scientists know who these people are, what they want to hear.
The target of science is not to tell what someone is expecting to hear. The target of the science is to tell the truth, without any bound with any ideology.
Let’s do this and we will understand a little bit more of this earth!

By the way I think we should live respecting a little bit more the nature. I do not tell;
“From tomorrow on no more petroleum”
but I tell:
“Think Different. If we all search for a new way, together we will be able to find it!”

[...] support his enthusiasm for a book! The last book by the same author was not satisfactory either (you can read my review here) and with this one the quality has dropped so much that I will think twice before buying another [...]
