Street Cooking
Saturday Fabiana and I attended an extremely interesting workshop held by Jonathan Taylor. The workshop was about “People and Street Portrait Photography” and has been a real challenge for me. Used to my 70-200 lens, approaching people in a complete different way, facing them less than a meter away is something highly challenging for me. I have learned a lot of things, but I have not been able to reach the level of confidence I need to face someone a meter from me and take his or her picture like this. It has been hard and in the next weeks I will try to invest some time shooting people at zero distance… or at least trying it.
This has nothing to do with techniques, composition, exposure: this is psychology and mine is a psychological barrier I have to overcome.
This shot was taken in front of the Southwark Cathedral in one of the many open air restaurants. The smell was great and the timing perfect… unfortunately there was also a long long queue for a piece of meat!
