The street is our studio!
The street is our studio!, originally uploaded by Carlo Nicora.
When I am walking through London, in the streets full of people, I feel like in a studio, where the set constantly changes, where the lights moves and where my models do not need to be told how to stand.
To go too far I can say that London is my little studio, where I am the shy spectator who wants to impress what he sees, because no one have the same view of a single thing.
A recent discussion with one of my contacts rises the awareness of the fact that nothing is true and nothing is right: there are only points of view. As long as we will be able to freely speak our mind, we will be able to help creating the global perception of the world we are living in. And we must be responsible for it. This is why I love photojournalism: "a picture is worth a thousand words" and I know that sometime starting a flame can lead to better debates to rise the same awareness. Sometimes it is just a provocation.
London is my playground as well then, and I can use what I see to tempt you to think.
What is London then? Is the sunglasses in the mind of SkinnyKidRobot or the strong black and white of MarkAntonyPhoto? Is it in the millions of shots of every visitor or the few of a great photographer? Like London, the world we live in is the world we decide to perceive and accept.
Welcome to mine!
I shot this image because when I saw this man (he reminds me of the actor Patrick Bauchau) I was hit by the fact that he was probably using the street as a studio. I loved the fact that he looked straight at me.
